I have always wanted a holiday home. Somewhere that I could go away and relax from time to time. Of course there are costs involved for example maintenance, holiday home insurance and utilities but it would be lovely to escape to a place in an exotic locality but also feel at home. So where would this holiday home be? How do you choose? Would you go for an inaccessible island location in the Bahamas or South East Asia or would you opt for a place in Europe that is easy to get to? Here are my top 3 tips for places to have a holiday home:

Thank god for the internet. It is now easier than ever to search and compare the cost of items online. In the past I used to be a lazy consumer and I would generally take whatever the first product was that I was offered. Savvy salesmen and marketeers had a field day with me by selling me the highest priced item that they had. But now I use online comparison tools and it is true that they actually do help save me money. In fact it has become a bit of an obsession. In the past I would just check the prices of other items that I would buy online like holidays or insurance but more recently I have even searched for cheap prices on tools, spare parts and even car tyres! I only wish I had made a note of the money I had saved it would help me justify spending more money on a holiday!

Parties are brilliant. There is nothing more fun than donning a silly hat, letting off some streamers and having a good old knees up. Regardless of your age it is always fun. The best thing is that even Grandmas and Grandchildren can muck in on a party and have fun. Old fashioned party games are the best for it. I look for any excuse to have an old fashioned party and even try and sell it as a retro night. Any excuse to get the party products out! I guess the closest we get to perfection are the occasional summer jubilee style street parties and I for one think we should all get involved.

Buying blinds is not always an easy proposition. You may be tempted to just buy cheap blinds but it helps to know exactly what you are looking. There is an enormous range of blinds and thousands of different types picking the right one for the right room can be tricky. Blinds tend to be suitable for different rooms and for the novice blind buyer it can be difficult to know exactly which blinds are suitable.  You may be familiar with the names of blinds but knowing the exact difference can be confusing.

The NHS is brilliant and my experience of it has been consistently fantastic. I have lived in other countries and the brilliance of the NHS is even more apparent when you come back to the UK. Whilst I often hear people moan about not getting in to see their GP or not being given antibiotics when they have a cold it has to be said that if you are dangerously ill they will work hard to fix you. That being said having private health insurance is still important. It is particularly good for sporting injuries and for if you are unfortunate enough to need an extended period in hospital.

I’ve always loved the thought of having a job where you can design products. I’ve often thought that being creative and at the same time creating something tangible would be extremely rewarding. It’s kind of like tinkering in the garage but doing it as a job. I guess the hardest part is having the eureka moment where you come up with the product concept. I guess after that trying to make the vision come to life and working on the product design would be very exciting. I think that seeing your idea grow into something that actually works would be great.

Much to my girlfriends frustration I struggle to understand the benefits of good curtains. In fact I struggle to understand which curtains are better than others and when faced with an aisle of choice I fail miserably. I’m not really sure how but I manage to consistently pick the fabric type or design that causes the missus to wrinkle her nose. If I was as consistent with the pools picks then I would be a millionaire. I have decided to go away and learn a little more about how to pick curtains.

Colours

It is said that dog owners tend to look like their dogs and there are hundred of hilarious pictures out there that show people with remarkably similar features to their pets. But now dogs can even dress like their owners. There is a growing number of shops that offer a range of Dog Clothes so that you can dress your dog in the latest styles. And it appears celebrities love synchronising their style with their dog. Paris Hilton, Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Lopez have all been spotted out and about dressed to kill in stunning clothes and their animals almost look as well dressed!

They were the best of times; they were the worst of times. My formative years spent at Sixth Form College London seem to encapsulate some of the best and worst moments of my life and when I reflect on my experiences they have adopted a mystique that I did not recognise at the time. My memories paint a picture of an almost Dickensian world where the parties were harder and the poverty greater than any of the most extreme moments of the rest of my life.
